Hi everyone! My name is Maya Ghanem, and I'm an international student from Jordan. I’m someone who really treasures spending quality time with my family and friends, making unforgettable memories together. In my free time, I love going on long, spontaneous walks exploring the historical sights and capturing the true essence of Budapest. I also have a passion for travelling around to discover new cities and cultures whenever I can. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

"Moving to a new country and taking on a demanding academic program can be intimidating, but pushing your boundaries, whether by introducing yourself to people from completely different cultures, sharing your ideas in class, or exploring the unfamiliar streets of Budapest, is exactly how you grow and make the most unforgettable memories."

WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?

What completely stood out to me about ELTE was its incredible prestige, notably being recognised as the number one university in Hungary. When researching universities, its strong global ranking and rich history made it clear that I would be receiving a world-class education. Combining that top-tier academic reputation with a diverse, international community right in the heart of Budapest made ELTE my absolute top choice.

WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?

The best part about studying at ELTE is the supportive community of professors and the incredible mix of international students. The university bridges high academic standards with a vibrant student life.

WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?

My biggest challenge was dealing with the intense academic schedule, specifically the constant exams held every month for every subject. This system meant that I had to study every single day without fail to keep up with the workload and maintain my high marks and social life. Balancing that continuous pressure while adapting to university life required a lot of discipline and resilience.

HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?

I overcame this challenge by developing a strict daily study routine and mastering my time management skills. Instead of cramming, I broke down the material into smaller, manageable parts to review each day, which helped me stay ahead of the monthly exam cycle.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ELTE IN THREE WORDS?

Diverse, Historic, Challenging.

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?

My degree in International Business Economics is equipping me with a deeply global perspective that is essential for my future career. What drew me to this major, and what makes it so valuable, is that it provides a multinational view not only of economic factors but also of the political dynamics that shape global markets. Understanding this intersection will allow me to navigate complex international business environments and make strategic, well-informed decisions in any global corporation or organisation.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?

My biggest recommendation is to be open to new experiences and consistently step outside your comfort zone. Moving to a new country and taking on a demanding academic program can be intimidating, but pushing your boundaries, whether by introducing yourself to people from completely different cultures, sharing your ideas in class, or exploring the unfamiliar streets of Budapest, is exactly how you grow and make the most unforgettable memories.
