Arriving at ELTE for your studies—whether through Erasmus+, another mobility programme, or as a full-degree international student—is not only an academic step, but also a rich intercultural experience. Studying in a new country involves navigating unfamiliar social norms, communication styles, and everyday cultural practices. To support you in this journey, ELTE offers an openly accessible online course designed to help incoming international students prepare for the cultural aspects of living and studying in Hungary.
The Intercultural Communication Short Course, developed by the CHARM-EU alliance, introduces the key themes of intercultural communication through short, modular video lessons in English.
The course helps incoming students:
- become more aware of cultural differences,
- understand a variety of social norms and communication styles,
- recognise and manage cultural challenges that may arise during their stay,
- and engage more confidently, effectively, and empathetically in a multicultural academic environment.
The video course is fully flexible and can be completed at your own pace. It serves as a helpful preparation tool for adapting to your new cultural and academic surroundings at ELTE.
You can access the course by clicking HERE.
ELTE warmly encourages all international students arriving at the university to complete the course as part of their cultural and academic preparation.
