National Laboratories with ELTE participation

Artificial Intelligence National Laboratory (MILAB)

The goal of the AI National Laboratory is to strengthen Hungary's role in the field of artificial intelligence.  Responding to challenges at home and abroad, the laboratory was created with the aim of ensuring Hungary’s significant presence in the most important fields of RDI today. The Laboratory supports both basic and applied research as well as innovation-related activities, promoting our country's involvement in cross-border mega-projects.

MILAB's consortium leader is the HUN-REN Institute for Computer Science and Control (HUN-REN SZTAKI); ELTE participates in the work of the Laboratory as a consortium member.

National Laboratory for Health Security (EGLAB)

The vision of the National Laboratory for Health Security is to establish the scientific foundation for data- and analysis-based decisions in the field of healthcare, epidemic prevention and ecological systems in our country. The three areas are closely intertwined, and new synergies are created through innovative surveillance systems, big data methods, and mathematical modelling. The Laboratory unites and coordinates the country's research groups, promoting networking and creating a collaborative research community that has a strong international profile.

The Laboratory's consortium leader is the University of Szeged; ELTE participates in the work of the Laboratory as a consortium member.

Climate Change Multidisciplinary National Laboratory (ÉMNL)

In addition to examining the characteristics of climate change and studying the effects of its elements on human health, natural and economic systems and society, the Climate Change Multidisciplinary National Laboratory also carries out research and development activities in the field of technological, economic and social adaptation.

The consortium leader of the Laboratory is Pannon University; ELTE participates in the work as a consortium member.

Quantum Information National Laboratory (QNL)

The goal of the Quantum Information National Laboratory (QNL) is to bring together the resources of Hungarian physicists, engineers, mathematicians and computer scientists and focus their activities on certain theoretical and applied areas of quantum technology. The challenge of the decade is to transfer the enormous progress in the control of photons, atoms and electrons at the quantum level to a new technology: quantum technology. With carefully considered and coordinated developments in the laboratory, the role and importance of Hungary in the field of quantum informatics can be maximized.

The QNL consortium leader is the Wigner Physics Research Centre for Physics; ELTE participates in the work of the Laboratory as a consortium member.

National Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (PharmaLab)

The aim of PharmaLab activities is to create a critical mass in Hungary, in cooperation with universities, research institutes, European research organizations, and small, medium and large companies, which is uniquely suited to the development of competitive technologies, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

In addition to early research projects, the laboratory aims to provide chemical, biological, biotechnological, pharmacological and pharmaceutical technology activities related to preclinical and generic development in cooperation with its small, medium and large company partners. The laboratory integrates the research potential of laboratories, centres, institutes, universities and companies operating in the fields of diagnostics, medical biotechnology, bionics and the development of pharmaceutical products.

The PharmaLab consortium leader is the Hungarian Research Network - Research Centre for Natural Sciences. ELTE participates in the work of the laboratory as a consortium member.
