Intercultural course 2026 spring
The intercultural preparatory course aims to prepare students for the cultural and intercultural challenges that may arise during mobility, with the involvement of instructors from the Institute of Intercultural Psychology and Pedagogy.
The course is delivered in an in-person format and is intended for ELTE students preparing for an Erasmus+ mobility abroad, as well as for international students currently participating in an Erasmus+ mobility at ELTE.
The course is offered as a general elective and is available to all ELTE students. Any student planning to participate in an international mobility programme may enrol.
Completion of the course requires proficiency in English.
The course will be launched in two groups of 25 students each:

An Erasmus+ mobility is not only a professional and academic opportunity, but also a significant cultural milestone. One of the key goals of the Erasmus+ programme is to support students in developing their intercultural competences – enabling them to navigate diverse cultural environments more consciously, openly, and effectively.
In the past, ELTE supported students in preparing for cultural differences through in-person intercultural training sessions. This support is now offered in the form of an openly accessible, online course. The Intercultural Communication Short Course, developed by the CHARM-EU alliance, presents the fundamental topics of intercultural communication through a series of short, modular video lessons in English.
The course is designed to help outgoing students:
-
raise awareness of cultural differences,
-
understand various social norms and communication styles,
-
recognise and handle cultural challenges that may arise during their mobility,
-
and learn how to operate effectively and empathetically in multicultural environments.
The video course is flexible and can be completed at the student’s own pace. It serves a similar purpose as the previously held in-person training sessions.
You can access the course by clicking HERE.
The Erasmus+ coordination at ELTE strongly recommends all outgoing students to complete the course as an integral part of their preparation for their mobility period.
