Hi! I am Eva, a finance student from North Macedonia. Outside of uni, I enjoy learning about cultures and experiencing them through travel. I am also a fan of old cinema and reading classics. I love going out, socialising, travelling and skiing.
"Everybody is new to this, so don't be afraid to go up to people and connect; the journey will feel richer and less lonely."
WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?
What stood out to me about ELTE was the structure of my chosen program and how big and diverse the university and its campus are. Here, I was able to meet some amazing students from all around the world. I also really liked the various events and activities that I saw on ELTE's social media.
WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?
I have the freedom and flexibility to structure my studies. Since there is no attendance list and there is a video library, I was able to plan my time and study very well, which makes me feel in control of my academic journey and motivates me to progress further. The professors are very welcoming and supportive, so I can always ask for help or guidance.
WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?
My biggest challenge was the overall shift from high school to university life. The studying and environment are completely different and more competitive. I had to become better at managing my time and adjusting to studying. It took some time to adapt, but I am definitely grateful, as it made me more productive, disciplined and organised.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?
I was outgoing and open to new experiences and friends. I reached out to students who had already completed their first year, and their advice and encouragement helped me navigate through the difficult moments. Even my new friends from first year at uni reminded me that I wasn't the only one facing these challenges, which gave me comfort. It is important to be open to building a supportive community in a new environment, like living in a new country or starting university.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ELTE IN THREE WORDS?
Big, Diverse, Many opportunities.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?
I believe that the whole experience at uni will shape me into a more knowledgeable, organised, and social person. The diploma at the end of this journey doesn't just show that I passed the exams but that I was able to navigate through a new environment and a new stage of life. My time at ELTE and Budapest will shape how I behave, my character and how I express myself.
DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?
Be friendly and optimistic, say yes to all opportunities and plans. Everybody is new to this, so don't be afraid to go up to people and connect; the journey will feel richer and less lonely.
