At its meeting on 13 October 2025, the Senate of Eötvös Loránd University unanimously adopted the renewed quality management documentation of the University. This decision marks a comprehensive modernization of quality management, affecting educational, research, and support activities alike.

The new model ensures transparent, data-driven, and sustainable operation throughout the entire university. The integrated quality management system enables the university faculties to harmoniously align with ELTE's central framework while preserving their professional autonomy.

The main elements of the renewed documentation are the Quality Policy, the Strategic Goals 2025–2030, the Quality Development Program 2025–2030, and the Quality Management Handbook.

ELTE's Quality Policy expresses the university's commitment to the effective operation and continuous improvement of the quality management system. Its goal is to ensure a high standard of education, research, and services—through the inclusion of leaders and staff, in a data-driven, transparent, and internationally competitive manner—along the principles of satisfaction measurement and continuous development.

For the period 2025–2030, the University has formulated six interrelated strategic goals aimed at strengthening ELTE’s competitiveness, sustainability, and international presence.

  1. We will be the university center for sustainability development goals
  2. We will be a multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary knowledge center for artificial intelligence and other disruptive technologies
  3. We will be a student-focused center for digital skills and competency development
  4. We will establish data-driven and efficiency-oriented university operations, and strengthen our quality management system
  5. We will strengthen research, education, and third mission excellence in our national and international relations
  6. We will intensify internationalization

The Quality Development Program 2025–2030 helps to implement the strategic goals defined above with detailed quality objectives, tasks, responsibilities, and indicators. The implementation plans are to be developed by 30 September 2026, and the program will be reviewed in February 2027. Afterward, the Quality Development Committee and the Senate will check and update the document annually.

The new Quality Management Handbook compared to the 2020 document now also covers quality management for third mission and support activities; it is public, faculties can prepare their own supplements, thus supporting unified yet flexible operation.

From the academic year 2025/26, the Quality Office will provide training for university staff on the effective application of the system, and will prepare informational videos for students on the connection between quality and ESGs. The first video is already available on the University's website and on its social media channels.

The integration of research centres will be completed in the first quarter of 2026, after which the harmonization of the quality management of central and research centre systems will begin.

The renewal of the system was justified by the Quality Development Program that expired in 2024 and by the accreditation procedures of the Hungarian Accreditation Committee for Higher Education (MAB). The Senate's decision came into effect on 14 October 2025, officially taking the University’s quality management to a new level.
