My name is Viktoriia, I like being here in Budapest, my experience and especially being a student at ELTE. I'm ambitious and try to be as active as I can. Among my hobbies are playing videogames once in a while, watching movies and series, reading, sports sometimes.
"The international, English-speaking environment through which I learn the subtleties of communication and teamwork will help me a lot both in the life and career."
WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU ABOUT ELTE?
That this is number one university in Hungary, an old one, with a long history and it appears in some world university ratings.
WHAT MAKES STUDYING AT ELTE SO GREAT?
Modern approach to learning process at my Faculty of Economics (GTK), the content of my program, international environment and other extracurricular opportunities.
WHAT ARE / WERE YOUR CHALLENGES IN YOUR STUDY PROGRAM?
The regularity of the midterms at my faculty, we have 3 of them during the semester if the course costs 6 credits and 2 midterms in case of 3 credits, all the exams (not only the midterms) are held in the exam center and taken on the computer. Also, you have to train to be and actually be self-disciplined to succeed. Of course, there's a challenge of studying in an English-speaking, multicultural environment but it becomes to feel usual within time.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?
I think I just got used to this practice and was motivated to study well, so I overcame these challenges.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ELTE IN THREE WORDS?
Global. Wise. Dear.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR DEGREE WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND CAREER?
My degree is generally about different fields of business so I get familiar with this variety and get an image/ a big picture of how a business usually works. A business-like mind. That and international, English-speaking environment through which I learn the subtitles of communication and teamwork will help me a lot both in the life and career.
DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDENTS AT ELTE?
I would advise to be active from the beginning or as soon as you adapt to the new pace of your new chapter in life of studying at ELTE. By "active" I mean to find out about lots and lots of opportunities that we have here: courses from other faculties, interesting programs both academic or extracurricular, various student's clubs. Get to know it from the start but not at you last year, so you wouldn't feel sorry for not spending yout time to the fullest while being an ELTE citizen.
