This year, the Ritsumeikan Summer Japanese Program (5-week program) welcomed students from 5 countries, creating a truly international learning environment. United by their interest in Japanese language and culture, participants built friendships and exchanged ideas through interactions with each other and Ritsumeikan students in the buddy program and residence hall activities.
After completing more than 50 hours of Japanese language classes, students concluded the program by delivering presentations and performing short plays on various aspects of Japanese culture, showcasing the knowledge and language skills they had developed throughout the course.
During their stay in Kyoto, students immersed themselves in Japan's rich cultural heritage through a variety of hands-on experiences. Activities included a traditional tea ceremony, visit to the Kanji Museum, Japanese calligraphy workshops, and Kyo-Yuzen dyeing, allowing participants to gain a deeper appreciation of Japanese history and traditions.
Ritsumeikan University is planning to offer this program again next winter, and we look forward to welcoming a new group of students.
