Hi! My name is Ayman, and I’m a curious, approachable person who loves exploring historical landmarks, visiting museums, and taking in the charm of Budapest and other European cities. In my free time, I enjoy travelling and unwinding with classic pop-culture series. I really enjoy meeting people from different cultures, sharing experiences, and helping others feel welcome and connected.

 

What stood out to me most about ELTE is its rich academic heritage paired with a genuinely welcoming international community. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the strength of the university's research environment and how accessible the faculty and support networks are for international students. On top of that, studying in the heart of Budapest, a city filled with incredible history and vibrant culture, makes ELTE feel like a place where you can grow both academically and personally.

What makes studying at ELTE so great is the perfect balance between high-level academic standards and a strong, supportive community. The university offers incredible research opportunities—especially in technical fields like computer science—supported by passionate professors and modern resources. At the same time, ELTE has an incredibly diverse international atmosphere where it’s easy to make friends from all over the world. Living in Budapest as an ELTE student means you’re constantly surrounded by rich history, stunning architecture, and a vibrant student culture that makes university life truly unforgettable.

One of the biggest challenges in a research-heavy program is transitioning from structured coursework to independent, open-ended research. Early on, learning how to effectively manage complex projects—like writing research manuscripts, diving deep into advanced topics in machine learning, and navigating the academic review and publishing process—requires a lot of self-discipline and resilience.

I overcame these challenges by building a structured approach to my work and learning to lean on the ELTE community. I started breaking down large, complex research projects into smaller, manageable milestones, which helped me stay focused and handle tight deadlines without feeling overwhelmed.

 

Equally important was reaching out for support—whether that meant consulting with my supervisors, collaborating with fellow students, or taking advantage of ELTE's academic resources and international network. Surrounding myself with a supportive group of peers made a huge difference, reminding me that every challenge is easier to navigate when you don't try to do it all alone.

In my career, this degree will open doors to high-impact research and leadership roles in both academia and industry. Beyond the technical foundation, the experience of collaborating within ELTE’s international network has built my cross-cultural communication skills, preparing me to thrive in global, fast-paced environments.

My biggest recommendation is to embrace every opportunity to connect—both inside and outside the classroom. Academically, don't hesitate to reach out to your professors, ask questions, and take advantage of the university's research networks early on; the academic community here is incredibly supportive if you take the initiative.

 

On a personal level, get involved in the international community and immerse yourself in life in Budapest. Explore the city’s history, visit its museums, travel around Europe, and build relationships with peers from different backgrounds. University life moves fast, so balancing your academic focus with exploring everything the university and city have to offer will make your time at ELTE truly meaningful.
