Aim of the course:
The course's aim is to give theoretical basement and practical insight into the functioning of family therapy, family counselling and family systems for university students. Its purpose to take the family therapy, family counselling in the system of helping interventions. Additional goal is to attain the theoretical system and interventive possibilities of different family therapy. The students able to decide the indications and contraindications of family helping interventions and able to lead the first interview, put into words hypothesis and name the adequate interventions.
Learning outcome, competences
knowledge:
- the students know and understand the history of family therapy, the importance of system theory and the confession os family therapy;
- know the helping systems, i.e. the connection of the health system, social work, the law and the education with family consultancy;
- revise thebasis ofpsychopathology needed in family therapy;
- understand the possibility of use of system theory;
- become acquainted with the family problems; i.e. on the one hand about personal, relationship, family, and on the other hand about social and environmental problems.
attitude:
- change the students' ability of the cognition and explanation of problems;
- interpretation of the problems with the help of system theory come to the front instead of the intrapersonal interpretation;
- strive for adequateusage of professional words.

- recognition of anyproblems, define problems;
- make the system-level hypothesis;
- skilled usage of circular questions;
- adoption of neutrality;
- develop empathy skills under controlled conditions, with continuous feedback;
- learning of methods of family therapy;
- ability of homework's giving;
- explanation of family communication's different levels;
- participation is supervision to force professional personality;
- separation of professional and private roles.
Content of the course
Topics of the course
Theoretical training period - 25% of course
- family therapy basic knows, theory and practice in communication, family, individual and couple life cycles, family categories, special families,methods in family therapy, interventions is family therapy, additional methods in family therapy.
- conservation of similarities and differences of family therapy and family counselling.
Practical training period - 75 % of course
- frameworks of family counselling in practice;
- learning of first interview;
- planning of Interventions
- developing ofskills of counselling: empathic presence, effective asking, feedback;
- family counselling depend on age and life cycles;
- special situations in counselling;
- case conservation, supervision;
- discussion of ethical questions.

requirements
- midterm written exam;
- presence during lesson (15% perhaps);
- simulative practices during lesson;
- first interview in family counselling, to write it .
