The goal of this program is to lay the foundations for pedagogical competence, theoretical and methodological culture for early childhood educators. The program provides an up-to-date pedagogical approach and literacy on which to build further specialized knowledge, and which will help to effectively address the educational needs of children aged 0-3 years. It contributes to the development of the teacher candidate's pedagogical self-image, inspiring the adoption and development of an attitude of a teacher who is aware of the child, who provides support and a model, and who cooperates effectively with the group of children and the family.
This program is recommended to applicants who want to prepare for working in a nursery and to gain a deeper understanding of the cognitive and emotional development of the first three years. It is recommended for all those who have an interest in both the theoretical and practical aspects of early childhood education; who, alongside this interest, have a commitment to supporting children's cognitive and emotional development.
This program enables students to work independently in nurseries, organize their work autonomously. They will become familiar with the practice of educating and caring for children aged 0-3 years and will be able to use different methods and solve problems related to education.
Specializations:
- Innovation in Early Childhood Education Specialization
- German Nationality Early Childhood Education Specialization
The Faculty has a double degree contract with the University of Florence: eight students per year have the opportunity to complete the second year of their studies at the University of Florence and after a successful joint final examination, receive a degree from both ELTE and the University of Florence.
Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is the oldest and largest university in Hungary, and it is the most popular higher education institution among applicants each year. The Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Education, one of the university's nine faculties, has been providing teacher training for 150 years, preparing students for pedagogical work in the first 12 years of childhood. Throughout the past 150 years the programs have continuously evolved to reflect the demands of a changing society while also striving to develop a professional, academic network that extends throughout the field of Childhood Education in both Hungary and abroad. Every aspect of the training programs contributes toward the introduction and dissemination of the latest research findings in education. The program places a strong emphasis on practical training. The faculty’s aim is to encourage the kind of playful attitude, joy and openness toward others that day cares, preschools and primary schools expect to provide in the 21st century. An atmosphere of curiosity and receptivity toward science and the arts characterizes the faculty.
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to work independently in nurseries as nursery teachers and nursery educators in both public and private institutions. They can lead groups of children and plan their work autonomously. Once qualified, they can start their own business by opening a crèche or childcare center and work with families in childcare. Training in English also opens up international career opportunities.
