"ELTE is one of the most prestigious universities in Europe in the field of Chemistry and has an excellent world ranking."
What stood out to you about ELTE?
ELTE is one of the most prestigious universities in Europe in the field of Chemistry and has an excellent world ranking. Also, it is in the center of Europe which is important when it comes to mobility, exchange programs, collaborations, and research. Hungary offers both qualitative and quantitative learning. Apart from these, Hungary is a very beautiful, diverse, and multicultural nation.
What makes studying at ELTE so great?
Hungary has a European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) which ensures the best learning achievements and qualifications. I have access to modern spectroscopies with state-of-the-art laboratories which allow me to act as a catalyst for development in this sector.
The course content is Advanced Level Chemistry that covers various specializations and offers the opportunity to work in modern laboratories with a range of options from crystallography to various spectroscopies to robotics.
What are / were your challenges in your study program?
I did not face any challenges, even COVID-19 did not make much difference due to the education system adapting to the situation. The university used hybrid learning and made both online and on-campus learning options available. The laboratory work and research went well - according to a pre-scheduled timetable.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I am very open-minded and I can adapt to changing environments. Right from my first day abroad, I adopted a new lifestyle, changed everything from my routine to eating habits according to the new country. I made a lot of new friends from all over the world, and I love learning new languages and cultures.
How would you describe ELTE in three words?
Fun, Learn, Earn
How do you think your degree will help you in your life and career?
We are motivated to go to industries for real-life experiences - I like this way of learning because I can implement my theoretical knowledge into practical learning. Recently, I was involved in protein crystallization in which I made protein crystals with the help of the latest techniques and robots.
Do you have any recommendations for future students at ELTE?
Life is amazing here! Every kind of facility is available here, from 24/7 library to all kinds of sports, from thermal baths to many cafes and restaurants. Budapest has exquisite architecture, there are many fountains, a range of large parks and all facilities needed such as banks, hospitals, etc. are readily available. I have never felt homesick because I think I adopted the new multicultural environment in a great way, making new friends, and always staying happy.
Language has never been a barrier for me. Before going to a new country, I learn their local language at a basic level, and because of this I don’t face any problems during my initial time in a new country. Later, I learn and practice the new language in day-to-day life. Today, I know and speak many languages fluently.
