What stood out to you about ELTE?
Diversity; As that around 3,000 international students from over 100 countries study at ELTE.
University ranking and the Vast research facilities: ELTE is a prestigious institution of public higher education in Hungary, operating since the inception of its predecessor in 1635. ELTE is a top-ranked research university in Hungary.
Quality of Lecturers and Nobel Prizes awarded : It is the best university of Hungary based on lecturer and student excellence, it has five Nobel Prize laureates among its teachers and alumni, in addition to winners of the Wolf Prize, Fulkerson Prize and Abel Prize.
What makes studying at ELTE so great?
The University study environment, education system and social network in addition to the university location, which is next to the Danube river, the thing that makes me refreshed.
As an international student I felt that the atmosphere is so friendly, there are no borders between the lecturers and student, which has helped me a lot in having fruitful scientific discussions.
What are / were your challenges in your study program?
The online classes have many difficulties, and since I am studying geology, we had to continue the mapping course online, due to COVID19, besides the dozen of weekly assignments.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I have used online consultation, internet search engines, and time management to meet the deadlines of the assignments.
How would you describe ELTE in three words?
Prestigious, inspiring, source of knowledge
How do you think your degree will help you in your life and career?
The master’s degree I will obtain, will help me get a promotion in at current job (Team leader Geologist), as well as develop my research skills.
In long term, will be able to act as a bridge between ELTE and both the Ministry of Energy and Mining (current employer), and University of Khartoum (where I am an alumni).
Do you have any recommendations for future students at ELTE?
Future student, I recommend you to study in a smart way, also to have good communication with the lecturers. So, don’t feel shy, ask any question you want.
The journey with ELTE is distinctive, helpful and wonderful, you need to be ready, punctual and focused to get the benefits.
During COVID 19, try to follow the instructions and stay up to date with the e-mails in the Neptun system to get the necessary updates with the new regulations.
The first semester is always challenging, so try to prepare yourself for the exams as early as possible.
Finally, don’t forget to participate in social events in order to engage with the ELTE community.
