Tips on staying healthy and focused – Part 2

I’m pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Kindergarten Education, I am now in my last semester of university, and I’m here to share a few more tips that have helped me crack the code to surviving semesters, having fun, and dealing with burnout. Unplug 30 Minutes Before Bed and After You Wake Up
If there is one thing in this blog that I can 100% vouch for without hesitation, it’s this tip. We’re all guilty of scrolling through our phones first thing in the morning or late at night after a long, tiring, and busy day. But giving yourself 30 minutes without a screen allows you to focus on important tasks, reflect, or just enjoy a moment of peace before the chaos of the day begins. It was hard at first, but now my mental health depends on it, and I’ve never felt more energized.
You Are What You Eat!
I’ve heard this from my parents ever since I was young, but it took me a while to understand and prioritize it. Life gets busy sometimes. I always thought I craved salty or junk food just because it tasted amazing and brightened my mood. Plus, I used to think I didn’t have time as a student to eat proper meals.
Now, I’m not going to tell you that the solution is to "meal prep", nope, I still can’t do that! I don’t have time for it yet (hopefully one day, though). But what I am going to tell you is that nourishing your body with good food will benefit you for years to come. What we eat affects us both physically and mentally. A well-fed brain is a high-performing brain, and a healthy heart is a peaceful one.
Prioritize Sleep!
We students tend to underestimate the power of sleep. I used to have a terrible sleep schedule, ranging from 0 to 4 hours of sleep. Yes, I used to skip sleep, thinking that I could get more done that way, but that was absolutely not the case. Once I made sleep one of my priorities, my energy levels, mental health, and academic performance all improved. From struggling to wake up at 6 AM after going to bed at 3 or 4 AM every day, I am now someone who wakes up at 5 AM without an alarm and falls asleep easily by 9 PM. Aim for quality sleep, your body and mind will thank you.
Exercise!
Move, move, move! Whether it’s a gym session, a run, or simply walking a few stops instead of taking the bus, movement is key. Exercise boosts our mood, improves our focus, and helps us unwind. When combined with eating healthily and sleeping well, you won’t recognize yourself!
At the end of the day, no matter how tough things get, remember that you are in control. It’s you against yourself. Believe in yourself, push through hard days or tough moments, and never sell yourself short… the sky is the limit!
