In 2025, we celebrate the 125th anniversary of higher education in special education in Hungary and internationally. The predecessor institution of the ELTE Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Education (ELTE BGGYK) began training higher education special educators 125 years ago, playing a defining role in the development and renewal of the profession ever since.

On this significant anniversary, on April 13, 2025, the International Day of Special Education, ELTE Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Education, the Hungarian Association of Special Educators (MAGYE), and the International Society of Professional Heilpädagogic Organizations (IGhB) are jointly organizing a celebratory event. The aim of the event is to reflect on the achievements of the past 125 years, honor the dedicated professionals of the field, and engage in discussions about the future challenges and opportunities of special education.

We warmly welcome all interested individuals, special educators, students, and professional partners to join us in paying tribute to the past, present, and future of special education!
