The choir of ELTE performed in Berlin to a full house
Strengthening its international relations, ELTE collaborated this time with the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, one of Europe’s leading music academies.
The ELTE Bartók Béla Choir performed Missa, a contemporary Hungarian musical work by Péter Wolf, at the Luisenkirche. At the sold-out performance, two talented vocal music students from the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, soprano Alla Khaiut and tenor Mario Ícaro Ferreira Da Silva—students of Professor Anna Korondi—sang the solos. Ferenc Rákosi accompanied on piano, Balázs Kovács on oboe, and the choir was conducted by László Kovács.
During their week-long stay in Berlin, the choir also participated in a major international project, performing as part of the At the Opera festival at the Philharmonie Berlin concert hall. The program featured a selection of works by Verdi, Mascagni, Rossini, Wagner, Nicolai, Strauss, Bernstein, and Copland.
The performance on October 27 was a historic moment, as it marked the first time ELTE had the opportunity to enhance its reputation in this world-famous concert hall. Representing the university at the concert was László Borhy, academician and rector of ELTE.
