ELTE Faculty of Law Building A/1 (1053 Budapest, Egyetem tér 1-3. fszt.)

For the second time, our faculty welcomes the virtuoso professor of civil law and civil procedural law from Ruhr Universität Bochum, former dean, and guest professor at numerous Chinese, Taiwanese, and Japanese universities.

His public guest lecture in English, titled Torts Hopping, will take place soon. Our guest speaker will "hop from case to case" to present the diversity of tort law and how the legal and extralegal spectrum of condensed reality emerges behind this field. He seeks answers to the psychological background of all this: why are we unwilling to accept it when misfortune strikes us, and why do we seek and want to find someone to blame at all costs? What is the reason that, alongside numerous real tragedies, many see an easy opportunity for financial gain in some harm or legal injury they have suffered, and are even willing to lie shamelessly in the courtroom? In the guest's words: the audience can expect a "tragicomic kaleidoscope."
