As part of the "Current Issues" lecture series, students and faculty at our department will have the opportunity to meet Professor Sanbong Lee, a Korean-born academic residing and teaching in the United States, on December 10, 2024. His English-language lecture, titled Marketing Essentials: Concepts, Case Studies, and Job Market Applications, will explore fundamental marketing concepts through the lens of Korean corporate practices.

Professor Sangbong Lee is currently an Associate Professor at the College of Business at Black Hills State University (BHSU), a small regional public institution in Spearfish, South Dakota, known for its personalized educational approach and strong support system for students. At BHSU, Professor Lee teaches various marketing subjects.

He brings a robust combination of academic and industry experience. He earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Diplomacy from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, followed by a Master's degree in Business Administration from Sogang University. He completed his doctoral studies in International Business and Marketing at Saint Louis University in the United States.

Before his academic career, Professor Lee amassed over nine years of industry experience, working in the Advertising and Finance Divisions at Chosun Daily Newspaper in Seoul. This experience shaped his marketing-oriented perspective. His teaching repertoire includes topics such as Principles of Marketing, Advertising, Marketing Research, Digital Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and International Business.

His research delves into areas like internal branding, brand citizenship behavior, digital marketing, and cultural influences. His publications address topics such as omnichannel marketing and customer engagement, employee behavior in internal branding, cultural dimensions' effects on organizational conduct, and the roles of international e-commerce and socially responsible corporations. These works have been published in prominent international journals, including Electronic Commerce Research, Journal of Product & Brand Management, and Multinational Business Review.

In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Lee holds several professional certifications, including Certified Professional Marketer in Digital Marketing (American Marketing Association) and Certified Digital Marketing Professional and Specialist in Social Media Marketing (Digital Marketing Institute).

Professor Lee's unique integration of research, teaching, and industry expertise enables him to offer valuable insights and practical applications to students and the academic community alike. This lecture is not only recommended for undergraduate and graduate marketing students but also for anyone interested in East Asian business cultures and the latest international trends in marketing.
