The selection committee of the international society has finalised the list of its 39 new members, who will be able to join the association in June 2022.

The Global Young Academy (GYA) is an international association of young researchers who engage in working groups. Their activities are relevant to scientific and societal debate, and cover interdisciplinary topics. Researchers less than 7 years after their Ph.D., under the age of 40 are eligible to join the 200-member organisation representing 24 countries, and the membership lasts for a period of five years.

GYA represents the interests of its members – a community of young teachers and researchers – and communicates their suggestions and views to political and scientific leaders, decision- and policy-makers, supporters, business leaders, and the media at a national, regional, or global level, thus promoting international, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary co-operation and dialogue.

Éva Dékány is a founding member and former co-chair of the Hungarian Academy of Young Researchers, and has been a part-time senior researcher at the ELTE Faculty of Humanities – Centre for Theoretical Linguistics, Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics since 1 February 2022. She earned her Ph.D. in theoretical linguistics from the University of Tromsø in 2012. Subsequently, she started working at the Institute of Linguistics at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Magyar Tudományos Akadémia, MTA) as a research assistant, later as a researcher holding MTA postdoctoral research grants (twice), and a MTA Premium Postdoctoral Research Grant. Her research interests include generative syntax and morphosyntax, with special regard to noun structures and subordinate sentences in Hungarian and Uralic languages. She was for a time co-editor of the international journal Acta Linguistica Academica. In recognition of her work, she received the József Herman Young Researcher Award, the Junior Prima Award, the Academic Youth Award, and the Burgen Excellence Award of the European Academy. Additionally, she won prizes at the 2014 Olinco Conference and the 51st Congress of the European Linguistic Society.
