Our students won one gold, two silver and one bronze medal for Hungary at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The women's water polo and handball teams, which scored points, were also strengthened by ELTE students, including Petra Simon, a freshman at the Faculty of Law.

At the Paris Olympics, 180 Hungarian athletes competed in 21 sports, with 11 current and former students representing Eötvös Loránd University. The first Hungarian medal was won by Eszter Muhari, a student of the Faculty of Law, who won third place in fencing, Women's Épée Individual on 27 July, beating Nelli Diefer of Estonia.

On 31 July, the men's fencing team - including Áron Szilágyi, an alumnus of the Faculty of Social Sciences - fought South Korea in the final, where the East Asian team won in a tough battle, and our athletes won the silver medal at the Olympics.

On 2 August, the men's foil duelists beat the defending champions Japan in a fierce battle, giving Hungary its first men's foil team gold after a 52-year break. The team included Gergely Siklósi, an alumnus of the Faculty of Education and Psychology and the face of ELTE Sport 2020, who scored the final, all-deciding touch.

Two days later, with a great performance in the hammer throw with a throw of nearly 80 metres, Bence Halász, a student of ELTE Faculty of Education and Psychology, Szombathely, came 2nd in Men's Hammer Throw, which meant the silver medal on the day that happened to be his birthday.

Our women's water polo team finished 5th place - scoring points - with Dóra Leimeter, a student of Faculty of Education and Psychology (the face of ELTE Sport 2021) and Kamilla Faragó, a student participating int teacher training.

In her last Olympics, Boglárka Telegdy-Kapás (ELTE's first Sport face) was 14th in swimming, women's 200m Butterfly.

In athletics, Réka Gyurátz, a former student of ELTE from Szombathely, got 30th place in Women's Hammer Throw, Bence Venyercsán, a student of the Faculty of Law and Rita Récsei, an alumna of Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education and Faculty of Education and Psychology, got 21st place in Marathon Race Walk Relay Mixed, while in the individual 20 km Race Walkevent, Récsei was 33rd and Venyercsán 46th.

During the Olympics, it was announced that Petra Simon, who finished 6th and was a member of the scoring handball team, had been accepted to ELTE's Faculty of Law of  and is now a university citizen.
