ELTE was represented at the event by 27 athletes, with our students winning two gold, four silver and two bronze medals in two martial arts.

At the European University Games held in Debrecen and Miskolc between 10 and 24 July, almost 5,000 competitors from 400 universities and 40 countries competed in 17 sports. 700 athletes from 22 higher education institutions from Hungary took part in the Games, making it the largest Hungarian delegation in the history of the competition.

Eötvös Loránd University was represented by 27 athletes in seven sports (kick-boxing, karate, judo, beach volleyball, taekwon-do, badminton, tennis), with our students winning two gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Enrique Dávid Nichols-izaguirre, a Master of Psychology student at ELTE Faculty of Education and Psychology, placed first, while Márk Rehák, a student of ELTE Faculty of Economics (ELTE GTK) majoring in Trade and Marketing, achived the same in kickboxing K1.

Bianka Szodorai, a student of ELTE Faculty of Education and Psychology, majoring in sports organisation, won second place in karate kumite, and Vilmos Tóth-Szabó, a coaching Bsc student of ELTE Faculty of Education and Psychology, in kick-boxing full contact, finished second. Emánuel Szmolek, a student participating in teacher training, also won two silver medals, one in kick-boxing kick light and one in pointfighting.

In the individual competition, Annamária Zsíros, a student of ELTE Faculty of Social Sciences, majoring in Sociology, won third place in kick-boxing kick light, while the other bronze medal went to the women's karate team of ELTE, namely Kata Bokori (Faculty of Primary and Pre-School Education), Eszter Kollár (Faculty of Economics) and Panna Uhlyarik (Faculty of Humanities).

Hungary is ranked first in the overall medal table of the 2024 European University Games. The Hungarian University of Sport Sciences won the most medals, while ELTE came second with eight medals.
